What Do ‘Twilight’ Stars Have Lined Up Before ‘Dawn’?

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and the rest are all keeping busy before the final installment hits theaters in November.

With “Breaking Dawn – Part 2″ nearly behind them, the stars of the “Twilight Saga” have some busy schedules ahead of the film’s November release for some other movies.

Just this week alone, Robert Pattinson picked up two more films, hot off the heels of several other casting updates for his “Twilight” co-stars. It’s almost getting hard to know when and where you’ll see the actors next, so MTV News is rounding it all up in this little guide:

Robert Pattinson
He’s already banked two intriguing movies: “Cosmopolis,” which hits Cannes this month, and “Bel Ami,” which will be available on VOD Friday (May 4) before going to theaters June 8. But it’s been a busy week for RPattz. He just added two more projects to his docket: the Saddam Hussein thriller “Mission: Blacklist” and “Rover,” in which he’ll be hunted down by Guy Pearce for stealing a car.

Kristen Stewart
With less than a month until the release of “Snow White and the Huntsman,” the blockbuster will get the “MTV First” treatment on Tuesday, when Stewart and her co-stars will stop by MTV with an exclusive look at the movie. Later this year, that other book-to-film adaptation, “On the Road,” will hit theaters. In it, she plays Garrett Hedlund’s drug-loving teenage bride, Marylou. Stewart has lined up some more interesting projects, including a “micro-cameo” in her mom’s prison movie “K-11.” She’ll also explore the art of (faked) snuff films in the flick “Cali.”

Taylor Lautner
After leaving the toy flick “Stretch Armstrong,” Lautner recently picked up a completely different kind of movie: He’s set to star alongside Adam Sandler and crew in “Grown Ups 2.”

Kellan Lutz
He’s got a number of projects that still need to hit the big screen, like “Syrup, “Bumped” and “Java Heat.” But he’s not resting: Lutz just landed the title role in a performance-capture, 3-D take on “Tarzan,” according to The Hollywood Reporter; Spencer Locke has been locked in to play his Jane.

Ashley Greene
Although she has several movies set to hit theaters, including this week’s “LOL” with Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore and the very scary “Apparition” out in August, she is also making a name for herself on the small screen. She’s attached to the ABC show “Americana” about real-life fashion designer Robert Soulter. Greene will play an up-and-coming Big Apple fashionista on the soap.

Check out everything we’ve got on “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2.”

The Wanted have just nabbed themselves the lead single on the “Ice Age: Continental Drift” soundtrack. They tweeted that their current track, “Chasing the Sun,” was hand-picked for the family-friendly summer release.

“Incredibly excited to have ‘Chasing the Sun’ be a part of the Ice Age 4 Soundtrack #TheWantedOnIceAge,” they announced on Thursday (May 3). “Be sure to see Ice Age 4 on 13th of July #TheWantedOnIceAge.”

Shortly after tweeting the news, fans began re-tweeting the hashtag again and again to help spread the message.

The fourth film in the “Ice Age” franchise will hit theaters on July 13 and is already busting with pop-star swag thanks to several key castings. Everyone from Nicki Minaj to Drake to Jennifer Lopez has a part in the animated feature, which also stars Seann William Scott, Josh Peck, Keke Palmer, Peter Dinklage, Aziz Ansari, Heather Morris and others.

This time around, the film’s protagonists, Manny (Ray Romano), Diego (Denis Leary) and Sid (John Leguizamo), go off on a new adventure where they meet up with pirates while exploring a new land.

“They knew I liked animation, they knew I liked to do voices, and so they said they were doing that so I thought, ‘This is amazing,’ ” Minaj told MTV News about her role of Steffie in the 3-D movie last year. “The original role that I was up for I didn’t get. So I said, ‘Oh, OK, whatever.’ I was really mad, and the next thing you know, they called me and they said, ‘We wrote in a part just for you ’cause we really want you to be a part of this movie.’ ”

Check out everything we’ve got on “Ice Age: Continental Drift.”

Britney Spears, Jessica Simpson And The Art Of The Second Act

Above the Buzz examines how these former pop princesses serve as examples of how stars can re-brand themselves again and again.

By Jocelyn Vena

<P>Both <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/spears_britney/artist.jhtml">Britney Spears</a> and <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/simpson_jessica/artist.jhtml">Jessica Simpson</a> dominated headlines this week. Not since the late '90s have these two duked it out for so much media coverage.</P><P>However there's a remarkable difference in what's happening today to what was happening then: Then, everyone was talking about their music and their pop star personas. Where Britney was a Lolita who proclaimed virginity while dancing provocatively in belly-baring tops, Jessica was innocent and sweet and didn't dare anger her minister daddy. Jessica released songs that put her big voice on display, and Brit focused on songs that put eyes on her dazzling dance moves and her ear for dance beats.</P><P>A lot has changes in the years since then. What's interesting is that, despite their seemingly different personalities, in retrospect, they have a lot more in common than was initially apparent: They are both down-home country girls who have built empires that few can touch. Both have had very public career highs met with very public personal lows. Both have loved <a href="/news/articles/1683993/boy-band-allegiances.jhtml">boy banders.</a> Both have even documented their lives on reality shows, albeit with very different outcomes.</P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="'We All Are Authentic'" id="vid:493178.id:1633959" width="415" height="255"></div><p></P><P>With almost 15 years separating the women they are now from those girls they were then, it seems they are looking to change it up.</P><P>At a time where the pop world is filled with plenty of younger pop princesses looking for their time to shine, Britney and Jessica seem comfortable enough with their own musical legacies to let them all have their moments. And, they should be at ease. They have both been incredibly successful in that world, having sold millions of albums, had huge radio singles and made music that is uniquely their own. And while Simpson has let her music take a back seat to other projects in the past few years, Spears is still a working singer who sells out tours and tops the charts.</P><P>These days, Jessica seems focused on maintaining the post-pop star second act she launched several years back. She's a fashion mogul with a billion-dollar empire that has outfitted fashionistas with reasonably priced essentials like platforms and bags. She also judges up-and-coming fashion talent on NBC's "Fashion Star," sharing with new designers her own wisdom on breaking into the industry. But, always savvy enough to keep people guessing, she's expanded her brand even further.</P><P>Now, she is also the latest <a href="/news/articles/1684326/jessica-simpson-baby-beyonce.jhtml">mommy mogul</a>. Jessica just added another gig to her post-pop star career — that of the A-list mom. Just this week, she welcomed her first child, <a href="/news/articles/1684216/jessica-simpson-baby-girl-maxwell-drew-johnson.jhtml">Maxwell Drew</a>, into the world. We expect she'll use that experience to re-launch herself yet again. We should expect fashion lines for stylish toddlers. And who wouldn't want to see a reality show that follows the new mom and her family?</P><P>It seems that, like Simpson, Spears might be looking to take a break from music for a moment. Having already given birth to two sons and tried her hand at the worlds of fashion and beauty, Spears is now a frontrunner to <a href="/news/articles/1684320/x-factor-judges-miley-cyrus-britney-spears.jhtml">judge "X Factor."</a> Her own experiences in the industry certainly make her the perfect candidate to give advice on the ups and downs of pop superstardom. She's experienced both with the entire world watching. While Spears' other projects (clothing line, fragrances) have generally been overshadowed by her music career, this rumored gig might be the first one to take the attention away from her pop fame while using it for all it's worth.</P><P>Spears is probably up for the gig because she is basically the heir to the <a href="/news/articles/1681693/madonna-above-the-buzz-pop-queen.jhtml">Madonna legacy</a>. She truly understands how to be a pop star. And the rumors that she might join Simon Cowell on the show seem to be intriguing Spears' critics and non-devotees more than anything she's done in the past few years. Spears might have found her perfect next chapter.</P><P>Right now, it's unclear how these new career paths will shape the future for Simpson and Spears — musically and otherwise. But, as has always been the case for them, no one doubts they will redefine what it means to be a female pop star. They are women who aren't willing to go quietly into the night. For Spears and Simpson, it seems they want it all or nothing. And, who can blame them?</P><P><i>What would you like to see Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson do next? Share your thoughts below!</i></P><P></p><div class="player-placeholder right" title="Britney Hits The Studio With will.i.am" id="vid:638813.id:1661123" width="415" height="255"></div><p></p>

Britney Spears Would Be ‘Great Fit’ For ‘X Factor,’ Marcus Canty Says

‘She would give me that pop I need,’ last season’s fourth-place finisher tells MTV News of rumored addition to judges’ table.

By Christina Garibaldi

<P>During his final appearance on <a href="/news/articles/1676110/x-factor-marcus-canty.jhtml">"The X Factor," Marcus Canty</a> promised his fans it was "not over" for him yet, and he was right. The fourth-place finisher, who wowed viewers with his energetic stage presence and smooth R&B style, recently signed to Epic Records and has released his debut single, "Won't Make a Fool Out of You."</P><P>Yet at one time it seemed like we might never have heard his music at all. Before "X Factor" Canty tried but failed to get through the audition rounds for <a href="http://www.mtv.com/news/topic/american_idol/">"American Idol."</a></P><P>"I tried 'American Idol.' I got in front of the judges, I sang my little heart out, but I guess I didn't make it," Canty revealed to MTV News. "I guess they didn't want me."</P><P><embed src="http://media.mtvnservices.com/mgid:uma:video:mtv.com:754173/cp~vid%3D754173%26uri%3Dmgid%3Auma%3Avideo%3Amtv.com%3A754173" width="460" height="260" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" base="."></embed></P><P>"Idol" may not have wanted Canty, but "The X Factor" did. With help from his mother, Canty reluctantly decided to step in front of the judges, hoping to get his chance to go to Hollywood.</P><P>"The funny thing is that I didn't want to do 'X Factor' at first. I was just like, 'Man, I'm gonna do it myself,' then I look on the bill and I see L.A. Reid, and I'm like, 'Wait a minute, that's L.A. Reid!' " Canty said. "For so long I've been trying to get music to him. When it came that time, my mom was like, 'Look, you should just try it."</P><P>With Reid as his mentor, Canty battled his way to a fourth-place finish with some show-stopping performances that gained him comparisons to Al Green and Bobby Brown.</P><P>Canty also developed relationships with the other judges on the show, including former mentors <a href="/news/articles/1678191/paula-abdul-exits-x-factor.jhtml">Paula Abdul</a> and <a href="/news/articles/1678186/nicole-scherzinger-steve-jones-leaving-x-factor.jhtml">Nicole Scherzinger</a>.</P><P>"I actually was kind of surprised," Canty said of the departures of Abdul and Scherzinger. "I thought it was a lot of drama on the show with Paula and Nicole, but they were so nice."</P><P>Canty was no stranger to drama himself. The R&B crooner found himself in the bottom two during several episodes, most notably edging out <a href="/news/articles/1680940/rachel-crow-simon-cowell.jhtml">Rachel Crow</a> in an emotional and <a href="/news/articles/1675936/x-factor-rachel-crow-elimination-reaction.jhtml">controversial finish</a>.</P><P>"I feel like Paula was honest. I feel like Nicole was honest — even in certain situations on the show that they got into, with me and Rachel and at one point, me and Drew," Canty said. "If I was in that situation I probably wouldn't know what to do."</P><P>With Scherzinger and Abdul out of the judges' seats, rumors have been swirling that pop star <a href="/news/articles/1680782/britney-spears-x-factor-judge-offer.jhtml">Britney Spears may fill</a> one of the vacant spots.</P><P>"Oh wow, I haven't heard that one. Britney Spears, wow. That should be interesting," Canty said in response to the news. "Britney Spears can be my mentor because, first of all, I was the entertainer. I know she would give me that pop I need. That's definitely a great fit."</p>
